  • How To Prevent Spam Through Your Website Forms

We all hate email spam in our email inbox, but rarely try to get to the root of the spam mail’s origin and purpose. Many webmasters face a problem of receiving spam emails through the forms on their website. These are usually contact forms which are setup for visitor’s to post their inquiries or to give feedback. Spammers try to hijack these forms to send spam mails, either by manipulating where the forms sends emails or by flooding the webmaster with junk mail. This article points out some of the ways in which you can fight spam in website forms meant for comments, feedback, inquiries and any other contact.

    Form Fields Validation n

A very important part of having a secure form is to ensure that there is strict validation of the form fields. This is best explained by an example. When you are accepting a phone number through the contact form, you can code the form to ensure that only numbers are entered in the form field. Similarly for an email address field, the form must be able to determine a well-formed email address has been entered. If the fields contain anything which that field is not supposed to contain, like special characters or some funny text, then the form will throw an error and will not be submitted till the mistakes are corrected. This prevents any malicious code or text from being inserted in the form. It also prevents automated bots from filling up the form without understanding what is required and how it is to be filled.

    Captcha

One of the most effective ways of fighting form spam is by enabling a captcha at the end of each form. The captcha requires the user to enter a word or number verification which is shown in an image. This prevents bots and automated systems from sending the forms mindlessly. Since bots cannot usually detect text within images, they fail to enter the correct Captcha text preventing the form from being submitted.

    Confirmation Alert

Another simple trick that can be used to harass the spammers is to add a confirmation alert box which pops up to confirm the details that the user is trying to submit. Robots and automatic form submission software are unable to cause the clicking of the confirmation button in the alert box. Something like: Are you sure you want to submit the form? Yes No Can be an added layer of protection from comment spammers. This is also a good way of allowing users to review the information they are sending and correct any mistakes or typos before submitting the form.

    Anti-Spam Plugins

Akismet is an Anti-Spam plugin used for WordPress, which can identify genuine comments and filter out the spam comments. This can be helpful if you do not want to enable a captcha confirmation box or cannot have specific validation on your form. Similar anti-spam plugins are available for other platforms as well. While Akismet type plugins are not 100% correct and may lead to some false-positives, they do a really good job of filtering out the noise.

    Logging Information

One of the most important things that a programmer can do to track the sources of spam and patterns of spam is to log additional information of the user. This means that along with the normal fields that the user is submitting, the form will also capture his / her IP Address, machine name, browser details, location information and similar information which can be used to trace the spam source. Using this information you can either take action against the spammer or even block his IP Address. This way he will not be able to keep harassing you or making random submissions.

Some programmers also swear by hidden form fields in CSS, which prevent the form field names from being seen by bots, thereby preventing them from knowing what data to auto fill in the text boxes. Consult your coder for the best solution for your website.

  • Floor scrubber Los Angeles Who is better Advance or Tennant

Answering your Questions about Industrial Floor Scrubbers and Sweepers in Los Angeles, CA.

    Q. What are the types of flooring cleaning equipment that I would want to consider?

    A. There are basically 3 different types of automated floor cleaning equipment you will want to consider, depending on your application.
    1. Automatic floor scrubber
    2. Mechanical broom sweeper
    3. Combination sweeper/scrubber

    Q. What does a floor scrubber do?

    A. It is a powered machine that distributes solution to the floor, agitates it with a set of brushes to loosen the soil or debris stuck to the floor and then picks up the solution and debris with a squeegee. It can be designed with 2 different types of brushes, one design is with disc brushes and the other is with cylindrical brushes. We will get into the advantages and disadvantages a little later in this guide.

    Q. What is involved with a mechanical broom sweeper?

    A. It is a powered machine that sweeps up loose debris on a hard surface, with a cylindrical broom, while controlling the dust in the process and then loads that debris in a trash hopper on the machine. It is best suited for dust, dirt, and bulky type of debris.

    Q. What are the types of sweeper scrubbers available?

    A. There are 2 types of systems to pick from on a sweeper/scrubber. The first type of combination machine has set of designated brushes doing the scrubbing and then a separate broom, doing the sweeping. A typical way to design the machine is to keep the sweeping portion in the front of the machine and the scrubbing portion in the back of the machine. The other type of design is having a pair of cylindrical brushes, do both the scrubbing and sweeping and the light debris is loaded into a small tray next the brushes.

There are 2 types of scrub systems to pick from when choosing an industrial floor scrubber:

    Disc scrubbing brushes

    Advantages:
They work great when you want the option of heavy duty scrubbing action and there is no need for any type of sweeping. They do really well on floors that have a lot of dips or waves in the floor because there is a lot more bristle contacting the floor. In case you were not aware, there is not a floor made, that doesn’t have some slight dips or waves to them.

    Disadvantages:
You always have to sweep before you scrub, otherwise the debris will get caught in the squeegee and leave streaks in the floor.

    Cylindrical brushes

    Advantages:
They work great as a dual sweeper/scrubber, because the brushes can do light sweeping while it’s scrubbing and depending on the type of bristle of the brushes, you might get a little bit of a polish to the concrete you are cleaning.

    Disadvantages:
They can sometimes miss the dips in the floor
due to the long brushes that are the unit and give you a inconsistent look on the floor. The cylindrical brushes are getting to be more popular due to less grease and grime on the floors that would require disc scrubbing. A lot of people don’t have time to sweep the floor before it gets scrubbed, thus
eliminating a separate step in the cleaning process and improving the overall productivity.

  • Kitchen Remodeling Isn’t Just For the Pros You CAN Update Your Kitchen Yourself!

Kitchen remodeling is one of those major projects that homeowners
are afraid to tackle themselves, but with a little sweat equity and
help from the local home improvement store, anyone can renovate their
own kitchen. Don’t be intimidated: if I can do it, so can you!

    When
I bought my current house, it hadn’t been updated since 1973. There was
sculpted shag, white and gold linoleum… you get the picture. The
flooring was an easy change. I ripped out carpet and put in Pergo
Select, scraped up linoleum and laid heavy weight vinyl tiles that look
like slate, and hired someone to replace the carpet in the bedroom. But
the kitchen also looked like a blast from the 70s. After some thought
and major design planning, I decided to tackle the renovation myself.
The process was easy and my new kitchen cabinets look fabulous!

    Step
one was to assess the current state of my cabinets… I soon learned
that the cabinets weren’t solid wood, meaning I couldn’t sand off the
dark stain. That meant priming and painting! A light scuff roughed up
the cabinets enough to take the primer, and then I painted the cabinets
an antique white. To give them that professionally finished look, I took
out the shelves and painted the interior, too. The shelves were
finished off with a coat of paint on the bottom and contact paper on
    top.

The old cabinet doors didn’t have knockout center panels, so
to get the glass-front look I wanted, they had to be replaced. I chose
unfinished oak frames, doors and drawer fronts from my local home
improvement store. To place my order, I measured each existing door and
drawer carefully–measure, measure, and measure again to make sure your
new cabinet doors will fit! I also made a diagram so I would know which
    doors went where.

Once delivery day arrived, there was still tons of
work in front of me. I got out my trusty measuring tape and measured the
cabinet door frames for the glass inserts. I gave the Delphi glass rep
the measurements and the number of pieces, and she figured out how many
sheets of glass I needed. Then, while I waited for the glass to arrive, I
sanded and finished with doors with a satin, water-based polyurethane
for durability and a beautiful finish.

    Cutting the glass was easy,
if a little stressful. Mark your glass with a grease pencil to make
sure you get the layout right! This ensures you have minimum waste and
you get all the pieces you need. When your glass inserts are cut, run a
bead of clear silicone caulk around the inside edge of the cabinet door
frame. Lay in your glass and secure it with glazing points; leave it
    flat until the caulk cures.

When the time came to install the new
glass-front cabinet doors, I got lucky-my new doors lined up with the
screw holes from the old doors. If yours don’t, simply measure the
difference and drill your new pilot holes before hanging. The drawer
fronts are not difficult to remove. and you can use the same holes to
install them. You will have to drill the holes for attaching your pulls,
though, so measure, mark, and pre-drill them before attaching the
    drawer fronts.

That’s all it takes: a few simple steps, very basic
home improvement know-how, and the desire for affordable, beautiful new
kitchen cabinets! My new cabinets are glass on top, solid doors on the
bottom and look truly gorgeous. At a cost of $800.00 plus labor (all
mine!) they were less expensive than all-new cabinets. I have a
great-looking new kitchen and I’m proud that I did it myself.

  • Why You Should Consider Buying a Windowless Air Conditioner

A windowless air conditioner as its name suggests is an air conditioner that does not require a window for venting. This isnt exactly accurate because it does need a small hole (about four inches in diameter) through which to feed its exhaust pipe.

But a windowless unit does not take up your window space like a window air conditioner. Rather, it is a free standing unit that takes up less than two square feet of your room. Because of this, coupled with its low price and high energy efficiency, has made the windowless air conditioner very popular in recent years.

In fact, some families who have central air conditioning have decided to invest in windowless air conditioners in an effort to reduce energy consumption and lower their bills. By using a windowless unit, you can opt to keep your central air conditioner off or at least minimize how much you use it during the hottest days of summer.

There are many advantages of purchasing a windowless air conditioner. These units are a cinch to install and most of them come on wheels that allow you to move them from room to room. In other words, you could purchase only one unit and use it throughout your room.

The downside of buying a windowless unit is that they are often quite heavy. Because all of the air conditioner parts (the compressor, the fans, the coils, and the evaporator) are housed in one unit, the windowless air conditioners can weigh over 50 pounds. The other problem is that windowless units are often less efficient than window air conditioners. Some experts argue that windowless air conditioners are significantly weaker than their stated BTUs and cooling capabilities.

If you do choose to go with a windowless air conditioner, there are a few other things to keep in mind.

First, these units can do a fine job cooling one room. They just dont pack a big enough punch to cool an entire house. It is important to keep your expectations in check if you do choose a windowless unit.

The second thing to bear in mind if you are planning to purchase a windowless unit is that they are very easy to install. Moreover, the installation is not permanent. You can install one of these units in a matter of minutes and you are also free to un-install it to you use it in different rooms as well.

Third, to determine which size windowless air conditioner you need, make sure you take measurements of the room where you plan to use it the most. You need to calculate the square footage in order to figure out how many BTUs you will need. Also, make sure you check with the manufacturer for the proper electrical requirements.

Finally, windowless air conditioners will need to be drained regularly. At the bottom of these units is a reservoir that collects excess humidity that is not dispersed through the vent. There is a valve at the bottom of the unit. You remove the stopper, tip the air conditioner back, and the water will drain out. If you live in an especially humid environment, you will have to do this fairly regularly.

  • Home Renovating Made Easier With Unfinished Cabinet Doors

Remodeling your house is an exciting project, but it can be overwhelming, as well. So that they don’ feel dazed and can stay within their proposed budget, many homeowners focus on handling one specific area at a time. Once theyve accomplished that area, they can move on to the next portion of their home they hope to improve. You can enjoy the improvement in aesthetics and function for a long time if you intend on remaining in your home. There are numerous alternatives that are costly, but they needn’t be. For example, before replacing the old ones in other areas of their home, many homeowners will choose to purchase unfinished cabinet doors to finish themselves.

One of the most popular rooms in the house that homeowners like to begin with is the kitchen. This is for a number of reasons; including how easy it can be to update a kitchens look. The kitchen is a preferred first choice for many homeowners because there are also many ideas out there for ways you can change your kitchen which are genuinely fun and adventurous.

Increasingly DIYers are thinking about purchasing quality cabinet doors that they can then use and finish by themselves and to their taste, especially since purchasing these finished can break your budget. In your effort to create the perfectly unique kitchen youve always wanted, you can find gorgeous handcrafted doors out of solid wood, allowing you to basically do anything you want to them.

You’ll have infinite possibilities when you work with unfinished cabinet doors. Those who are under a tight budget but are determined to update their kitchen might choose to simply reface their cabinets. When re-facing, the cabinet structure stays the same; only the cabinet doors are replaced. Even if you must make improvements in a few areas of the overall structure, this is often just as good as a total kitchen makeover.

Because the actual cabinets wont have to be removed, its easier to live in your house using your kitchen throughout the remodeling phase. Nominal interruption to meal prep occurs.

If you like the existing handles and knobs in your kitchen, you can reuse that hardware. Or if you prefer new ones, look around at a vintage antique shop or your neighborhood hardware store. There are countless possibilities. Simply review the look youre trying to achieve and make your selections based on that.

Home remodeling is fun and stressful, as well as expensive. Finding ways to improve the look without replacing something that may well not need to be replaced is one of the most effective ways to remodel your home at a fraction of the cost of traditional remodel projects. An excellent example of a way that you could improve the appearance of your home but at a fraction of the cost is to choose unfinished cabinets. They also help you to create the unique appearance and feel youre seeking, particularly if you have some experience with staining, painting, or distressing.

  • How To Make Mica Lamp Shade

One of the nicest lamp shade are those made with mica. One reason for this is that it’s durable and strong plus these kinds of lamps are easy to make.

Mica lamp shades is one of the lamps that came along before electricity. A few years after 1930s along came the earliest electric lamps.

Some features of Mica lamps that appeal to people are:

    1. These beautiful mica lamp shades produce a warm soft light;

    2. Mica lamp brings a sense of soft beauty into a room.

    3. Mica is group of silicate minerals and the word mica is derived from the Latin word micare which means to glitter.

    4. Mica produces a marble look and mica lamp shades are easy to make and you can do it yourself as well.

In this article we’ll show you how to create your own mica lamp. Before you start on your project, check if you have a tape measure, a metal lampshade (with strong frame) and shears. Now purchase the amount of mica sheets you require to make the mica lamp shades. It comes in four colors, dark amber, standard amber, stained amber and white. If you have a lamp shade that you may already have at home and decide which area you would be adding the mica too, or if you plan to do a full mica lamp shade, then measure the entire shade. Once the amount is decided purchase your mica sheets.

Cut the mica sheets into the desired measurement. Slip it into the metal lampshade or fit into desired areas. Hold mica sheets in place with glue or tape or if you have tabs at the back of the fold, fold them in to hold the sheet in place. Mica lamp shades can be designed by using circular or square or even rectangular shaped rims.

If you dont have a metal frame to make your mica lamp shades, dont worry there is another option, though it may require a little more work! Take 4 or 6 coat hangers. Bend one of those hangers into the shape of a circle. Use a mug or a round container to get the desired shape. Do the same with another hanger and make it larger so that it can be the lower rim. Take 3 or 4 hanger pieces cut to the same measurement and connect both rims with them leaving equal spaces between them. Now comes the slightly harder part.

Take 3 hanger pieces which have been put to the same measurement. Taking a separate hanger bend it to the shape of a small circular, large enough to rest on the bulb rim. You can attach these by using thick wire and then attach it to the lower rim. Then place it on the blub rim. Make sure it is properly balanced. Now take the mica sheets and drill small holes in the corners each sheets (4 holes). Taking 3 inch sections of craft wire attach the mica to the rims, both up and down. Check if it is firmly placed. And now you have your very own home made mica lamp shade. You can use stencils and paint on your lampshade to add a little bit of color if you desire.

That’s all there is to it. Pretty simple huh? Anyone who has interest and has a passion for lamp shade can make their own lamp shade. Go ahead and create you own.

Making of mica lamp shades is an interesting project. Would you like to start your project today?

  • Ceramic Disc Taps

Taps drip. It’s inevitable, like death and taxes. They seal using a rubber ring screwed down over the end of a metal pipe. Sooner or later the rubber is going to go hard, split or just wear away and it will no longer seal. Then water seeps through, and the tap starts dripping. Left alone the problem gets worse as the water wears away the valve seat. Then you’ll have to either re-grind the valve seat(Do you own a valve seat re-grinder? Who would?) or replace the tap. Tedious in either case. But, it need not happen. Many taps now use ceramic discs.

    How They Work
Instead of blocking the pipe by squeezing a piece of rubber onto the end of it, there are two slotted ceramic discs held down over the water supply pipe. The bottom disc doesn’t move, while the upper disc is rotated over it by the tap mechanism. When the slots align the the tap is on, and when the slots don’t align, the tap is off.

    Why Are They Better?
There are advantages to this approach. The main one is that the discs are very hard and withstand the erosion of water very well. Hence they last much longer before needing replacement. Also, because the water flow is between the two discs, it’s the discs that wear not the tap body itself. Because of the arrangement of the discs, it only requires a quarter turn to go from fully off to fully on and the operation of the tap is very light. This has the advantage that they are easy to turn on with the back of the wrist if you have dirty hands or for people with restricted movement.

    Where they are Used
The ease of operation and the long life mean that most good quality sink mixer taps have been made using ceramic discs for a while, but basin taps with ceramic discs are surprisingly less common. The more use a tap gets, the more attractive the use of ceramic disc technology becomes. This is doubly true in hard water areas, which can be murder on traditional taps.

    Disadvantages
There are a few disadvantages. The discs do eventually wear out, but manufacturers seem to have standardised, so it is reasonably easy to get replacements. Basin taps are sometimes handed and sometimes not, and it can be annoying to have to work out which way to turn the tap in order to get water. They are also more expensive and not suitable for very low water pressure. The only other disadvantage is that if you are used to the old style taps, which need a number of turns to turn fully on, you may inadvertently turn the tap on more than you intended, you can get a unexpected full-on jet of water. Embarrassing!

  • Field of Dreams Not a Social Media Marketing Strategy

OK, so you’ve been resisting, dragging your feet, making excuses
and digging in your heels because you just do NOT want to add another
item to your ‘to-do’ list or ‘to-learn’ list, or maybe you’ve made your
best efforts at ‘doing your own’ social media for your interior design
business and nothing has come of it.

    When I hear interior
designers say that they’ve tried to do their own social media marketing
and it just doesn’t work… I liken it to hearing them say “I
reupholstered my client’s couch myself and it just didn’t come out very
good. So I don’t think offering upholstery is a good idea. It just
    doesn’t look good.” Yikes!

As a business owner there just aren’t
enough hours in the day to check out every brand spanking new idea,
phenomenon, and shiny new marketing technique that comes around the
pike. However, the fact of the matter is… in today’s business arena,
it’s simply impossible for one person to carry out all the tasks that
are required to stay in business today. So it may be time to face up to
the fact that social media marketing is here to stay, and outsourcing it
    is the way to go.

So what’s the big deal? I’m guessing you
already ‘outsource’ in your interior design business. For instance… do
you do your own bookkeeping? Do you lay the carpet for your clients?
What about installing the cabinets? When you think of ‘outsourcing’…
instead why not think of it as subcontracting? I mean really… you hire
someone already to help you with the things you don’t or can’t do
now… why not do that with your social media marketing? Especially if
it will bring in new business?!

Do you remember that Kevin Costner
baseball movie “Field of Dreams”? It coined the popular phrase…
“Build It and They Will Come” Well, that’s the mindset many designers
have today when it comes to marketing their interior design business.
It’s important to realize that is a Hollywood fantasy. However, that
fantasy could easily be adjusted to one that is more relevant for
business today… “Build your social media presence and they will
come… in droves!” Now, it may not be next week, but come they will,
provided you get out there and make your presence known.

The days of static web sites are over. Therefore,
unless you build an effective and consistent Social Media marketing
strategy that engages with your clients and keeps your website
continually updated… unfortunately, you will be left behind. This is
where outsourcing (or subcontracting) your social media marketing can
not only get you started but can also take over the ongoing monthly
requirements, leaving you free to do what you are best at… Interior
Design! Some say it takes a leap of faith to put someone else in charge,
but since you don’t have the time or expertise to do it yourself, there
really isn’t much of a leap, now is there?

    So what can Social
Media really do for your Interior Design business? Social media ensures
that you are visible to clients and prospects. It gives you a chance to
prove you know your stuff, you know what you’re talking about and it
builds trust. And in today’s realm, oftentimes you’ll need a boat load
of trust to get someone to purchase your interior design services!

    So,
if you’re unable to do it yourself then you must get someone else to do
it for you. Setting up your social media marketing strategy and its’
implementation will shine the spotlight on you, increase your reach, and
build trust and credibility. It also shows your prospective clients
that you not only mean business but that you are more than qualified to
    complete their projects… beautifully!

  • Should You Repair Your Appliance

Hello, I’m the owner of a service company that repairs appliance’s. I want the public to know that the new machines out their are not lasting as long as machines that were built 10 to 20 years ago. It does not matter what brand it is : kenmore, whirlpool, GE, Maytag, Viking, Bosch.

In my opinion the older machines were built like tanks! Before you buy a new machine keep in mind that almost anything you buy today will have a electronic control board in it and the more gadgets the refrigerator or washer has the more things that can go wrong with it. If your machine is in good condition and has been well maintained then you should think about repairing your appliance.

For those of you that I could not convince and your almost out the door to purchase a new appliance I have a couple of Tips for you.

First, do a litter home work, research the appliance your going to buy.Do a search online about the appliance you want to buy to see if customers are having a problem with it, and don’t just look a review pages find some blogs. I personally looked up a LG Dishwasher that had 3000 complaints on it.

Second, when your at the check out ready to pay for your new machine there going to want you to purchase a extended warranty on the appliance, If you don’t have a home warranty that covers your appliance’s and your spending a lot of money on the machine you should get the warranty. As I said, the new machines can have more than one control board and lighting and power serges can cause problems with these newer machines.

Third, I can say that I am happy with front load washers, they do save a lot of water, when a front load washer fills it only uses a few gallons of water compared to 10 gallons or more on a top load washer every time it fills.

    Thank you.

    Donald Rowan
